Inspector Jones was shot and killed while on duty on August 24^th, 1930.  Inspector Jones had just boarded a train near Emo, Canada in an attempt to make contact with another INS Inspector (Laurence Doten) when a passenger, who was eluding a previous arrest attempt and had just shot and killed Inspector Doten, fatally shot Jones.  Jones was stationed and living in Minnesota at the time of his death.  Doten was survived by his wife and child.
