Deputy Sheriff Michael Morrow was beaten to death while conducting a traffic stop.

The subject was able to gain control of Deputy Morrow’s flashlight after attacking him, and then beat him with it. The man was arrested a few hours after the murder.

He was convicted of second degree homicide and subsequently sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was released in 2008 with intensive supervision. He has been arrested numerous times since his release. On August 17, 2016, he was arrested in Isanti County after a high speed chase that topped 100 mph. He was also charged with assaulting three officers and a police dog.

Deputy Morrow had served with the agency for 11 years. He was survived by his wife, two children and grandchildren.
