Officer Axel Soderberg died from injuries received in a fall while on duty.

Officer Axel Soderberg was escorting children across the street at University and Cromwell streets when he slipped and fell on the icy pavement on March 13. He died in the hospital on March 20, 1928 from an abdominal hemorrhage suffered in the fall. He was buried in Union Cemetery.

Officer Soderberg had been with the agency for 16 years and was survived by his wife and daughter.
