| OFFICER JAMES T. SACKETT St. Paul PD Died May 22, 1970 Officers Glen Kothe and James Sackett responded to a "maternity call" at 859 Hague Avenue. Kothe went to the rear door, but when he heard a shot, he returned to the front door where he found Sackett lying on the doorstep groaning with a rifle bullet to the chest. The call was found to be a fake and the shooting described as an ambush. They were not sure where the shot came from. In 1972, an 18-year-old woman was tried for making the call. She was acquitted of the first-degree murder. She served 30 days for contempt of court after she refused to identify, in court, the man who told her to make the call. No one was ever charged with Sackett's death. Officer Sackett was 27 years old. He was survived by his wife and four children.
